In some countries, Bamboo is an invasive species because of its rapid growth
Bamboos are a diverse group of mostly evergreen perennial flowering plants making up the subfamily Bambusoideae of the grass family Poaceae. Bamboo includes some of the fastest-growing plants in the world. Certain species of bamboo can grow several centimeters in a day. Bamboo's rapid growth and tolerance for land of little agricultural or developmental value because crops produced in that area would not be worth the effort, makes bamboo a good candidate for foresting land that has no trees.

BAMBOO AND DEFORESTATION
The regrowth of bamboo is rapid and matures faster than most types of timber trees such as Mahogany, Blue Mahoe, and Cedar which can take up to 20 years to mature. If used as a sustainable livelihood it can reduce deforestation in forests. In some countries, people cut down trees to make charcoal and deforest areas for farming. Bamboo is resistant to heat, its forests provide habitat and breeding for countless animal species, additionally, bamboo’s extensive root system helps prevent soil erosion and maintain water quality in rivers and streams.
In countries such as Jamaica bamboo is seen as an invasive species because it is rapidly taking over some forest areas. Bamboo deforestation is often driven by human activities, because of the demand for bamboo products such as textiles, furniture, flooring, paper, construction, and deliberate culling. Climate change, wildfires, and droughts, further contribute to the deforestation of bamboo.

BAMBOO TEXTILE
Bamboo fabric of the highest quality is often referred to as Bamboo Linen and is the most sustainable bamboo fabric in terms of how it is processed. Other bamboo fabric such as rayon is produced using harmful chemicals, these chemicals pose a danger to the environment and factory workers. Advertising all bamboo fabric as sustainable is misleading because the fibers are broken down with harmful chemicals.

Everything that can be made from wood can be made from bamboo. The advantage of bamboo over wood is that it grows fast and can be harvested yearly. There are numerous opportunities if you want to launch into a bamboo-related business. Here is a list of products you can consider. Bamboo farm tools including handles for rakes and shovels. Bamboo toilet paper is one product that I highly recommend because of the way it is produced and it has no dye. Even though the fibers of the bamboo are added to Caustic Soda there is a misconception that it is a harmful chemical to the environment.
